This generator turns your questions and answers into FAQPage structured data (JSON-LD) that you can paste into a page. Add each question and answer exactly as it appears on the page, then copy the code.

How to use the FAQ schema generator
- Replace the two sample questions with your own, and add as many as you need.
- Paste each answer word for word from your page. Markup has to match visible content.
- Copy the code and paste it into the page’s HTML, or into your SEO plugin’s schema field.
- Test it with the Schema Markup Validator or Google’s Rich Results Test.
Is FAQ schema still worth adding in 2026?
Google stopped showing FAQ rich results (the expandable questions under a result) for all sites on 7 May 2026. Before that, it had limited them to well-known government and health sites since 2023.
The FAQPage type itself isn’t deprecated. Google says it still reads the markup to understand pages, and other search engines and AI assistants can use it too. So it’s still worth adding where you have a genuine FAQ section, but don’t expect it to change how your result looks.
Rules for FAQ markup
- Only mark up questions and answers that visitors can see on the page.
- Use it for questions written by you, not for user-submitted questions with several answers (that’s QAPage).
- Don’t use it for advertising or put promotional content in the answers.
- Use one FAQPage block per page, even if the questions sit in different sections.
If you use WordPress with Rank Math, its FAQ block adds this markup automatically. Use this generator when you’re adding FAQs by hand or on another platform.
Example: a page shows five questions in an accordion, with the answers hidden until clicked. That’s fine: content in expandable sections still counts as visible. What breaks the rules is marking up a sixth question that only appears on a different page, or rewording the answers in the markup so they no longer match what visitors see.
Frequently asked questions
What is FAQ schema?
It’s structured data, written in JSON-LD, that tells search engines a page contains a list of questions and their answers.
Does FAQ schema still give rich results?
No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026. It still reads the markup to understand the page.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD?
Anywhere in the page’s HTML, usually in the head or at the end of the body. Most SEO plugins have a field for custom schema.
Can I use HTML in the answers?
Google allows a few basic tags (links, lists, bold, paragraphs) in answer text, but plain text is the safest choice.
Is the generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored.
