Worked examples
A London–New York call
A 2pm meeting in London in November is 9am in New York: a 5-hour gap. But for a couple of weeks in March and in late October/early November the gap is only 4 hours, because the US and UK change their clocks on different dates.
Scheduling across three regions
A webinar at 1pm London time in winter is 6pm in Karachi, 6:30pm in India and 5pm in Dubai, but 5am in Los Angeles. Late morning UK time usually suits the most regions at once.
Daylight saving dates to watch
- UK and EU: clocks go forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October.
- US and Canada: forward on the second Sunday in March, back on the first Sunday in November.
- Pakistan, India, the UAE and most of Asia don’t change their clocks.
