How to use it

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Leave “Age on” as today, or change it, for example to check age on the day a form is submitted or a policy starts.

How age is counted

Age is counted in whole years from the birthday, then whole months, then the remaining days. Someone born on 15 June 1995 is 31 years, 4 months and 21 days old on 5 November 2026. People born on 29 February usually celebrate on 28 February or 1 March in non-leap years; for legal purposes in England and Wales, the birthday is treated as 1 March.

When exact age matters

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my exact age?

Count full years since your last birthday, then full months, then remaining days. The calculator does this automatically, including leap years.

How many days old am I?

Enter your date of birth; the result shows the total number of days between your birth and the “Age on” date.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. Dates are counted on the calendar, so 29 February and different month lengths are handled.
