How rates are estimated
A common rule of thumb is a set fee per 1,000 followers for each type of content. The calculator starts from that, then adjusts for engagement (higher engagement earns more) and usage rights (letting a brand reuse your content or run it as a paid ad is worth extra).
| Content | Starting rate per 1,000 followers |
|---|---|
| Instagram post | £10 |
| Instagram Reel | £12 |
| Instagram Story | £4 |
| TikTok video | £8 |
| YouTube integration | £20 |
| LinkedIn post | £12 |
These are starting points to edit, not market rates. Rates vary widely by niche, country and platform.
What else affects the price
- Niche: finance, tech and B2B audiences often command more.
- Audience location: UK, US and other high-income audiences are worth more to most brands.
- Production: scripting, filming and editing time.
- Exclusivity: agreeing not to work with competitors.
- Usage rights: paid ad usage or long reuse periods.
Labelling paid posts
In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and CMA expect paid or gifted promotions to be clearly labelled, for example with “#ad” at the start.
