Retail barcodes need GS1 numbers
You can generate an EAN or UPC barcode for any number, but to sell in shops or on Amazon you need numbers licensed to your company by GS1, the organisation that issues them. For your own stock, shelving or events, Code 128 with your own codes works perfectly.
Printing tips
- Use SVG for print work: it stays sharp at any size.
- Print in black on white and leave a clear margin around the bars.
- Don’t shrink retail barcodes too much; test-scan a sample first.
