How to pass on the fee
To receive an exact amount, don’t just add the percentage. Use: charge = (amount + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage fee). To receive £100 from a UK card: (£100 + £0.20) ÷ 0.985 = £101.73.
In the UK, you can’t add a surcharge for paying by most consumer cards, so build fees into your prices instead.
Other Stripe costs
- Disputes (chargebacks) carry a fee.
- Stripe Billing, Tax, Invoicing and Connect have their own pricing.
- Payouts to your bank are usually free in your home currency.
