First-year tuition of CAD 32,000, flights of about CAD 1,400 and the CAD 23,448 living-cost minimum make CAD 56,848. If the college has already received a tuition deposit, include the receipt and the amount still needed falls by the same amount.
2. A student bringing a partner and child
For three people the living-cost figure is CAD 35,888. With CAD 18,000 of tuition and CAD 4,000 for three flights, the total is CAD 57,888.
What counts as proof
- Bank statements for the past 4 months, or a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian bank.
- Proof of a student or education loan from a bank.
- Receipts showing tuition and housing fees already paid.
- A letter from the person or school giving you money, or proof of a scholarship or funding from Canada.
Visa officers look for funds that are genuinely available to you. A large deposit just before applying, with no explanation, can raise questions.
