Domestic slab rates (2026)

Units a month Non-protected (Rs per unit) Fixed charge per kW
1–100 22.44 Rs 275
101–200 28.91 Rs 300
201–300 33.10 Rs 350
301–400 36.46 Rs 400

501–600 40.22 Rs 675
601–700 41.85 Rs 675
Above 700 47.20 Rs 675

Protected consumers (200 units or less for six months in a row) pay Rs 10.54 for the first 100 units and Rs 13.01 for the next 100. Non-protected homes pay their slab’s rate on every unit, which is why crossing a slab boundary can raise a bill sharply.

Estimated bills (2 kW load, no fuel adjustment)

100 (protected) Rs 1,945
200 (protected) Rs 3,912
100 Rs 3,763

300 Rs 13,910
400 Rs 19,985

Note the jump from 200 to 201 units: about Rs 1,170 more for a single extra unit. Watching your meter near the end of the month can save real money.

Frequently asked questions

How is my electricity bill calculated?

Units × your slab rate, plus fixed charges per kW of load, fuel adjustment, surcharges, electricity duty, 18% GST and the PTV fee.

What is a protected consumer?

A home that has used 200 units or less every month for the last six months. Protected homes get much lower rates.

Why did my bill jump when I used a few more units?

Non-protected consumers pay the rate of the slab they land in on every unit, so going from 200 to 201 units raises the price of all units.

Are rates different for K-Electric?

No. Under the 2026 schedule, domestic rates are the same nationwide, though fuel adjustments can differ.
